Improve Hilliard, Our Community
My letter to Brett A. Sciotto, President, Hilliard City Council
I have passed the Old Hilliard District a couple times and sadly, there are not too many local stores or restaurants in that area.
In order for us to build Hilliard, we as a community should be encouraged to purchase from local stores instead of chain stores and eat from local restaurants rather than restaurant chains.
The city of Hilliard should promote the local stores and restaurants. I have lived in Hilliard since 2001 but I still do not know a lot of local stores.
I know most of them recently after searching from google or yellow pages — such as karate class, Hilliard recreation center, and etc.
We should have interesting festivals at Old Hilliard District — like summer festival, farmers market, etc — and invite those local stores and restaurants to open booths.

A reply letter from Brett to me
Hi Fonny,
Thanks for your note! I couldn’t agree more – which is why I launched The Hilliard Advantage Program last month. Go to www.HilliardAdvantage.com. As a citizen, you should have received an identification card in the mail already.
Also, a couple months ago, I announced the formation of Destination Hilliard – an initiative to identify and spearhead a signature event for our community – like a large festival or event that is a regional draw. Watch the local papers for more information in the near future.
Thanks!
Brett

I was wondering if you were going to blog about this…
We should, shouldn’t we? Hmm, we might cover about it when we come back from our family vacation this weekend.
