We had planned Disney Vacation for a couple years but we just could not find the proper time. There was always something going on, such a classic excuse. Our original thought was to go with Mario, Restu’s oldest brother, and family to Walt Disney World at Orlando, Florida. But, because of unanticipated event, Mario had to call off their trip.
With two kids between four to five years old, Nanda and Milcah have the right ages to experience the magical vacation at Disney World. We were settling down on airlines, Disney park tickets, and resort reservation since beginning of the year so this journey was something that we had yearned and waited for.
We went to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studio parks. Every park offered different attractions. Milcah loves princesses and she just could not stop talking about the castle, princesses, Minnie, and Daisy when we were in Magic Kingdom. Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade was held at three in the afternoon and the weather was too hot and humid for Ohioans, but we still waited on the sidewalk fifteen minutes before it started. Even though this was the sixth time that I have been to Disney, including three times to Disney World in Florida, I was still amazed with all the characters and parade.
After experiencing The Magic Carpets of Alladin, Cinderella’s Golden Carrousel, and Snow White’s Scary Adventures, Restu had enough kids attractions so he suggested a thrill ride (at least for our kids according to me) and to our surprise, our kids dared to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. All right! That means mom and dad can benefit from more roller coaster rides with kids now. We were so tired after our first day in the park that we basically went to bed after taking a quick shower in our hotel, Disney’s Pop Century Resort. We could not wait for the next day. The kids would have a lovely breakfast with Disney characters.
We already reserved from Columbus to have a breakfast with characters at Tusker House, located inside Animal Kingdom. It was American breakfast with a touch of African ethnic food. It sounded and tasted so good! The kids fell in love with the adorable Mickey’s pancake. I have to say that it was the finest food during our trip. Mickey, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy were taking turn to visit our table and take pictures with the kids. Milcah even kissed the silly Goofy. They love him! At the end of our breakfast, the kids and characters were dancing and playing African instruments together, going around tables.
The weather was surprisingly nice on our second day at Disney World due to all big and tall trees that have existed and were planted everywhere in this park.
We encourage everybody not to miss the Kilimanjaro Safaris, the best safari that we have come across so far. We still can not figure out how the open-sided safari vehicle with us sitting in it and the lions not too far without any obstruction could be in the same area. All I could think about is that, we were glad that all lions found us not too interesting and they were napping. Maybe, there is a barrier between us and the lions but we could not catch a glimpse of that at all.
We split up into two groups because Milcah’s height did not meet the requirements for the Expedition Everest, the big thrill, roller coaster type ride for bid kids and adults filled with a close encounter with the infamous Yeti. Therefore, Milcah and I saw The Musical Finding Nemo. Milcah had a blast watching Nemo and we got the first front row seats. When we met again with Restu and Nanda, Nanda was so eager telling me that the Yeti broke down the track and the train went backward.
All of us also got the fast pass tickets to Dinosaur, a thrill ride goes back 65 millions years to experience jungle’s life with mild mannered and carnivorous dinosaurs. It pumped up the adrenaline in our body with the tingling sensation in our stomach. We felt so vibrant and alive after that.
Our journey to Animal Kingdom Park was fun and memorable. Before we left, we took pictures of The Tree of Life, a 14-story, 50-foot wide tree. It is the centerpiece and icon in this park and we could see why.
Hollywood Studios — the park that captures the glitz and glamour of the Hollywood Heydays from the 1930s and 1940s — is our last park. Restu and Nanda loved Star Wars so Star Tours, a full-motion simulator attraction that takes us on an intergalactic adventure, was our first choice.
Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show — a live attraction reveals the filmmaking secrets — and Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular — a live show that recreates many of the memorable scenes from the first Indiana Jones movie — caught Restu’s attention since he and movie are pretty much joined at the hip. The shows really educated us how special effects in movies are made.
It was the longest line to Toy Story Mania. Our friend suggested that the kids would like this interactive, 3D attraction featuring the characters from Toy Story. We were exhausted and almost fell asleep a couple times while waiting in the line for 2 hours. This ride did not do much to adults but we could see why kids love it.
To complete our vacation, we watched Fantasmic, a spectacular nighttime fireworks and water show starring Mickey and other Disney characters and features classic Disney music and songs and laser lights. We managed to sit on the first row and Restu was so ready with his Nikon and tripod but it turned out to be a bad idea. The camera was wet from the water splashes. At the end, we all had fun and would definitely visit Disney World again when the kids are older. When we tucked in the kids to their beds and kissed their foreheads, the smiles on their faces really told how magical Disney was for them.

My letter to Brett A. Sciotto, President, Hilliard City Council
I have passed the Old Hilliard District a couple times and sadly, there are not too many local stores or restaurants in that area.
In order for us to build Hilliard, we as a community should be encouraged to purchase from local stores instead of chain stores and eat from local restaurants rather than restaurant chains.
The city of Hilliard should promote the local stores and restaurants. I have lived in Hilliard since 2001 but I still do not know a lot of local stores.
I know most of them recently after searching from google or yellow pages — such as karate class, Hilliard recreation center, and etc.
We should have interesting festivals at Old Hilliard District — like summer festival, farmers market, etc — and invite those local stores and restaurants to open booths.

A reply letter from Brett to me
Hi Fonny,
Thanks for your note! I couldn’t agree more – which is why I launched The Hilliard Advantage Program last month. Go to www.HilliardAdvantage.com. As a citizen, you should have received an identification card in the mail already.
Also, a couple months ago, I announced the formation of Destination Hilliard – an initiative to identify and spearhead a signature event for our community – like a large festival or event that is a regional draw. Watch the local papers for more information in the near future.
Thanks!
Brett
Today is a blessed day for me. I received a voice mail from newspaper’s editor last Saturday before our vacation trip to Florida about my “Power Food” article. I was anxious and excited at the same time. I called him back and of course nobody worked on the weekend. After coming back to Columbus, I was occupied with my work until this afternoon I called him and heard good news that my article has been published on this week’s local newspaper: Suburban News Publication.
Letter: Power food is the key to holding onto energy
Published: Tuesday, June 2, 2009 4:52 PM EDTTo the Editor:
My morning routine started with a cup of caffeine to perk me up. I worked productively until afternoon, when my body started to slow down and my brain told me to snooze. In the evening after dinner, my system was shut down completely. Sitting down on the couch in front of the television for the evening was too lovely to be missed.
Nowadays, busy schedules mean less time for us to prepare food from scratch. It is more convenient and economical to purchase pre-prepared and processed foods that actually release their sugars too quickly into the bloodstream, giving us a short-lived energy “high” followed by fatigue and a hunger-inducing “low.”
Most people hold responsible the aging factor, work or daily chores for feeling tired all the time.
There is one thing that we can change to make better lives: take control of what we eat. We improve our diet by including power food — such as fruit, vegetables, fish, nuts, seeds, beans and good quality lean meats — to boost our energy levels. They release their energy in a slow, steady fashion, helping to avoid dramatic sugar highs and lows, leaving us feeling energized and sustained all day long.

It seems that Google becomes the next Apple and creates a center of attention. Not only does Android become one the most preferred open source operating systems, but also has Google released Google Chrome with the cool hi-tech look browser. So, what is the lattest news from Google? The Google stock jumps to $410 and people are talking about Google Wave. What is so cool about it?
Nowadays, social networking — like facebook and myspace, email, IM, blog, youtube, and wiki — are so popular and used by young and hip generation. Could a single communication model span all or most of the systems in use on the web today, in one smooth continuum? A “wave” is equal parts conversation and document, where people can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.
Here’s how it works: In Google Wave you create a wave and add people to it. Everyone on your wave can use richly formatted text, photos, gadgets, and even feeds from other sources on the web. They can insert a reply or edit the wave directly. It’s concurrent rich-text editing, where you see on your screen nearly instantly what your fellow collaborators are typing in your wave. That means Google Wave is just as well suited for quick messages as for persistent content — it allows for both collaboration and communication. You can also use “playback” to rewind the wave and see how it evolved.
For me, Google Wave might be the answer for all of us. It might become the next facebook since you are able to post and share picture, video, and etc only to certain people in your network. Google has not announced specific timeframe for public release but you can subscribe to http://wave.google.com when they launch it.
It is your choice: swim or sink. Swim means to follow the technology and get familiar with google wave or sink and left behind.

The study based on different genders concludes that men and women lose weights because of different techniques.
We have heard a lot about those cravings that kill people’s weight loss goals. Men can turn down favorite food if they are in a mission to lose weight. On the other hand, women store in the memory their cravings and they can not resist eating if the food is presented or offered to them. Do not stock up high calories and high fat snack in the house.
Men are more competitive so they are more challenged if they can get $1 for every pound that they shed. Women need a lot of supports from their friends and environment. That is why Weight’s Watcher is a successful weight loss program for women. Motivate yourself based on your need: competitive or support.
Men do not care about food’s nutrition and most of them go to frozen food aisle whereas women always go to produce aisle first in the grocery store and read food label on the back of the product. Pay attention to the food label for a healthy diet.
I was amongst many people that believe the magic bullet or rather, supplement is going to solve overweight problems. Many people want a quick fix or an easy solution. One of these quick fixes or easy solutions is the diet pill. Diet pills come in many forms ranging from pills marketed as appetite suppressants to others marketed as carbohydrate blockers, fat blockers and metabolism boosters. I had tried a couple of diet pills — such as Xenadrine, Relacore, Alli, and detox cleansing pills — and yet, they did nothing to my weight. There are hundreds of side effects caused by these diet pills, including anxiety, fast heartbeat, seizures, heart attacks, strokes and even death.
Again, the only thing short of surgery that will ensure weight loss success is something you can’t buy in a bottle. It’s called good old-fashioned diet, discipline, and exercise.
We felt bad that we have abandoned to upload family’s pictures to our blog as a result of putting clients’ pictures as our top priority. This occasion happened back in September 2008 for Nanda’s five-years-old birthday party.
We were discussing the theme for Nanda’s birthday party and Scooby Doo came out as our final decision. We were amazed with Food Network’s sculpted cakes and wished for something different and creative. Fonny did her homework and dared several pastry chefs at Columbus to bake a scooby doo sculpted fondant cake. Most of them refused to do it because of the copyright and carving skill is mandatory.
After almost a month of hard work trying to discover the best out of the best, the final two pastry chefs that we considered the most excellent were Short North Piece of Cake and Ma Ma’s Cake Creations. Restu was persistent to have a sculpted cake instead of a sheet cake with scooby doo as a cake topper, and therefore we opted for Ma Ma’s Cake Creations. The cake got a lot of compliments from our friends and her business cards disappeared within two minutes. Amanda was very nice to throw the scooby’s snack wrapped in a gift box made with vanilla cake and vanilla buttercream free of charge for us.
The Scooby Doo was a chocolate cake with dark chocolate ganache in-between layers of cake and covered with vanilla buttercream. The cake was so moist, scrumptious, and not too sweet for our taste buds. Nanda actually selected the chocolate flavor by himself during cake tasting. Cutting the cake was a different story, quite a challenge. We felt sorry for Ian, Nanda’s friend from preschool. He looked choking, paled, and ran away to his parents after seeing Fonny cut Scooby’s neck. No doubt that Amanda is an artist. She can create a piece of art in the form of cake. And, Ian’s reaction told us that he thought it was a real Scooby Doo, not a cake. Fortunately, nobody got hurt or sad during the party, including Ian.
Every kid had fun playing at Pump It Up for different inflatable rides. The parents were welcome to play too. The party was continued by taking a group picture, and shifted to another room to cut the cake and open gifts. We love Pump it Up because they took care evertyhing, all our needs.
Divine Wedding baked homemade cookies: chocolate chips, oatmeal and raisin, white chocolate chips and pistachio, and chocolate chips and walnut. A plastic bag filled with cookies and accessorized with blue and chocolate ribbons that matched to Scooby Doo’s color theme. Our friend, Kartika Mediani, a senior CCAD student, created a caricature version of Fonny holding iPhone…the image was printed on a card and attached to the goodie bag. We think she is a talented lady that will have a bright future waiting for her.

Plot summary for Doubt:
It’s 1964, St. Nicholas in the Bronx. A charismatic priest, Father Flynn, is trying to upend the schools’ strict customs, which have long been fiercely guarded by Sister Aloysius Beauvier, the iron-gloved Principal who believes in the power of fear and discipline. The winds of political change are sweeping through the community, and indeed, the school has just accepted its first black student, Donald Miller. But when Sister James, a hopeful innocent, shares with Sister Aloysius her guilt-inducing suspicion that Father Flynn is paying too much personal attention to Donald, Sister Aloysius sets off on a personal crusade to unearth the truth and to expunge Flynn from the school. Now, without a shard of proof besides her moral certainty, Sister Aloysius locks into a battle of wills with Father Flynn which threatens to tear apart the community with irrevocable consequence. Written by Miramax Films
Set at a Catholic school in the Bronx, it centers on a nun who grows suspicious when a priest begins taking too much interest in the life of a young black student. Is she being overly protective or not protective enough? And can she work within the system to discover the truth? Written by Sherman (courtesy of Broadway.com)
In 1964 a Catholic elementary school has just admitted its first Black student, a 12-year-old boy transferred from public school. The principal, a rigid disciplinarian nun, and the liberal parish priest are both concerned for the boy’s welfare in a predominantly Irish/Italian school. The nun becomes convinced that the priest has, or is planning to have, an improper relationship with the child and is determined to force him to leave the school. A third compassionate person is the boy’s mother, who has another point of view. The fourth person is a young teacher who is concerned but confused by the conflict between the nun and the priest.
At the end of the movie, Sister Aloysius said she has doubts, she meant the Catholic church system. How Father Flynn can just go on to another church and be in a new environment with tons of innocent children without being exposed or a slap on the wrists. He even got a promotion. I think that is where the director was getting at that nothing gets done to save the name of the church. And to this day nothing will get done because everything is so secret or sometimes just looked over and ignored.
As a Catholic, we should not be ignorant with our church and society. We should seek more information and speak out if it conflicts with our faith. We agree that Doubt is definitely one of the best films of the year. It is drama but at the same time we were thrilled by the conflict, disturbance (phone call, door knocking, and light bulb burned out), and uncertainties throughout the movie.
“I hate to exercise.” That sentence was vivid and came out from my lips. It is quite an opposite from what I have encouraged recently to all my friends: “eat and live healthy”.
I used to hate to exercise. There were many years that I had to drag myself to go to the gym. Who cared about my appearance considering that my weight was still normal?
All my life, I am a planner and always set up goals, short-term and long-term. During my preparation for our wedding, I vigorously went to the gym to accomplish my objective. It was easy and almost seemed like I did not even have to try.
Life has changed and we have two kids. My job requires me to sit most of the time in front of the computer. My metabolism slows down for sure. Losing weight was a big challenge for me and to make things worse, our eating habit adjusted to something practical, fast food.
Restu challenged me to reach my goal and motivated me by promising an incentive, dining chairs! It was something in my wish list. The first two weeks backed to the gym was a big test for me. My body was aching and deadbeat after each workout. I felt starving most of the time and junk food was a big temptation.
Two weeks became a month. I experienced something unusual, something good. I have become strong and active physically. Exercise has developed into an enthusiasm. My daily routine does not complete without an exercise. I can proudly say that I love to exercise and it is part of me.
For all of you who hate to exercise, I challenge you to give it a try for one month and every day write down on a piece of paper “I love to exercise”. My mentor told me to write down my one goal over and over again and it would change my attitude.
